Actor. Singer. Playwright.
Hi! I’m Talia (she/her) — Playful. Collaborative. Physical comedian. Classically trained. Quick witted. Big hearted.
I’m a queer NYC-based actor, singer, voice over artist, playwright, musician, and clown. I’m a generative and creative thinker and approach my work with humor, care, and a full generosity of self. I find my joy in collaborating on bold, daring, challenging artistic projects.
Originally from Newtown, CT, I discovered at a young age the powerful ways in which art can bring together and rebuild fractured communities. As a playwright, I am particularly interested in telling stories of resiliency that look at grief through the lens of radical joy.
In my free time, you can find me running in and out of doors at rapid speed, preparing for the next screwball comedy. I'm also learning how to dance with my cello, Pierre. We’re still working on those dips.
Looking to collab? Need an actor or writer for a project? I would love to hear from you.
You can reach me via email at taliahankin@gmail.com.

Playwriting

An Original Play
Springtime—just as everything turns that vibrant green that reminds you it’s alive,
just as the pollen in the air reminds you how to cry, just as the swirling breeze reminds you how to dance.
Every Thursday, August and Colson set up their picnic blanket in the cemetery. Every week, it gets closer and closer to graduation. Every day, it’s one more day that she’s gone.
In the wake of the tragic death of their best friend Aster in a school shooting, high school seniors August and Colson must find a way to keep Aster’s memory and spirit alive, even though she can no longer be there in person with them. Through ritual, celebration, everyday gossip, and waves of soul-wracking grief set against the sunshine and chirping birds of springtime, the two best friends navigate living with both loss and joy. They discover how to preserve memory and create memory anew. They learn to be present while carrying the past with them. They embrace the beauty of living when it feels as though all is lost.
When I Consider Everything that Grew is a play about love, about grief, about honoring and remembering and forgiving and holding close and continuing on.
Directed by Camilla Cox | Featuring Taylor Richardson and Elias Wachtel
“Hankin’s compassion for her characters was reflected in the wit, honesty, and charm of her piece. When I Consider Everything That Grew provided an intimate look at young grief and the persistence of joy."
-Sarah Shapiro, The Columbia Daily Spectator
"Hankin’s smooth, stylized, ever-so-slightly over-the-top dialogue makes these early scenes flow like the audience is peeping through the bushes at two childhood friends holding on to their innocence for as long as they can."
-Marino Bubba, Bwog

"Hankin’s writing style is playfully lyrical, capturing the voice of two naive teenagers in a way that is patient and sardonic, allowing them to process their grief under a cloud of cynicism."
-Sarah Shapiro, The Columbia Daily Spectator
